The Universidad Europea del Atlantico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) will organize next May 12 and 13 the online seminar, in Spanish language, “Challenges of the Telecommunications Policy of the European Union to those of the European digital ecosystem”, within the closing of the third course of the Jean Monnet Chair “Telecommunications Policy in the EU and Information Society” entitled by UNEATLANTICO.
This seminar proposes to expose the situation and trends of the European Union Telecommunications Policy and the European digital ecosystem in the context of the evolution of the global digital ecosystem, with emphasis on providing a critical view on public policies and regulation developed by the European Union.
The different speakers of the seminar will address the evolution of telecommunications, the digital ecosystem and the problem of chips at a global level (which is leading to a trade war). The situation of telecommunications in Cantabria, network security and a study of the impact of Artificial Intelligence on citizens’ rights will also be addressed.
The seminar will be held in the auditorium of UNEATLANTICO, and will be broadcast live on the university’s YouTube channel, with the participation of important speakers, both in person and online.

Some of the country’s most important institutions in the field of telecommunications will take part in the two-day event. The session will also provide an opportunity to take stock of the third academic year of the Jean Monnet Chair. The European Commission, through the Erasmus+ program, granted this university chair to UNEATLANTICO in 2022 with the aim of strengthening teaching and research on the integration of member states.
The event is held in collaboration with the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana de Puerto Rico (International Iberoamerican University, UNIB), the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana de México (International Iberoamerican University of Mexico, UNINI Mexico), the Fundación Universitaria Internacional de Colombia (International University Foundation of Colombia, UNINCOL), the Universidade Internacional do Cuanza (International University of Cuanza, UNIC), and the Universidad de La Romana (University of La Romana, UNIROMANA).
