UNEATLANTICO explores new ways of collaboration with Athletic Club de Bilbao in the field of sports psychology.

Dr. Juan Luis Martin Ayala, director of the Degree in Psychology (PSI) and the Master’s Degree in General Health Psychology at the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) held a meeting at the Lezama sports facilities with David Rincón, director of the Psychology Department of Athletic Club de Bilbao with the aim of exploring new ways of collaboration in research, teaching and professional intervention in the field of sports psychology.

During the meeting, David Rincón presented the work carried out in his department, made up of six sports psychologists, who monitor the club’s youth players, individual, family, sporting and educational aspects.

In addition, being integrated into a broader health department, the club professionals showed great interest in the research lines of UNEATLANTICO, both in the area of psychology as well as in Human Nutrition and Dietetics (NHD) and the Science of Physical Activity and Sport (CAFYD).

For his part, Dr. Martin informed the Athletic Club’s Psychology Department about the training offer in undergraduate and postgraduate courses as well as the current lines of research that UNEATLANTICO maintains. In this sense, during the meeting, the director of the Psychology Department of the Basque team highlighted his interest in welcoming students from the Faculty of Health Sciences of UNEATLANTICO to carry out their curricular practices and to collaborate in joint projects.

The meeting between Dr. Martin and David Rincón concluded with the prospect of holding future meetings to deepen possible collaborations between the two institutions.
