The European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) through the Office of Cooperation and Social Action (OCAS) has contacted the Department of Presidency, Justice, Security and Administrative Simplification, the Spanish Red Cross, Caritas Spain and the Food Bank Association of Cantabria, with whom it carries out annual actions through the formalised Collaboration Agreement, to coordinate immediately and efficiently the necessary aid to mitigate the drama produced by the recent hurricane DANA.
Students, staff, teaching staff and the entire UNEATLANTICO community in general have expressed their intention to collaborate through different channels and university services.
As a result of the contacts with the aforementioned organisations, it has been requested that the aid to be given be financial, as there are currently difficulties in sending food and supplies to the affected areas, as well as problems in the communication routes, and it is preferable to make financial contributions to support the non-profit organisations in acquiring the necessary resources for each phase of the recovery of the affected areas.
The fact that donations are entirely financial includes advantages. Flexibility and speed in adapting purchases to real needs, support for the local economy and logistical optimisation to reduce environmental impact, facilitating reconstruction and sustainable recovery programmes.
As a result, the University uses its loudspeaker to concentrate all the aid initiatives of its University Community through the means that provide the greatest reach.
Financial donations can be made through Bizum or by bank transfer to any of the three entities with the concept #Dana.
