The European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) and the Ibero-American University Foundation (FUNIBER) collaborate in the Ibero-American Summit for educators “ReHumanizing education, working emotions in the classroom in times of AI” in its third edition. The Summit is organised by the Red de Directivos de Instituciones Educativas (REDIE) and Plékon, institutions dedicated to educational innovation.
The Summit will take place on 13 July in Guatemala City and will be open to the rest of Ibero-America via digital connection.
The event will feature a presentation of the Summit by Eimy Soto Genovese, PhD in Education with a specialisation in diversity and the education system; and the editor and university educator Ligia García y García. During their intervention, they will discuss the integration of emotional intelligence in the Classroom Intelligence as well as its challenges and opportunities.
Afterwards, neuroeducator Cecilia Lacayo will conduct a workshop on executive functions. She will discuss effective tools and practices to promote the development of executive functions in the classroom.
Dr. Soto will offer a workshop to cover the tools and knowledge needed to create inclusive learning environments, through Universal Design for Learning (UDL). This will be followed by a workshop by García y García on strategies to improve students’ writing and reading comprehension skills.
In the second part of the Summit José Antonio Pérez-Robleda, educational technology consultant and founder of Plékon, together with Dr. Soto will discuss alternative assessment using a flexible taxonomy, seeking to provide feedback that is more accurate and personalised to identify students’ strengths and weaknesses.
Luis Eduardo Prado González, lecturer at the Universidad Europea del Atlántico and director of the university’s Debate League, will give a presentation on the advantages of debate and public speaking as a tool for re-humanising education. The same will deal with the observations of the UNEATLANTICO teacher in the development of students from more than fifteen countries who participate in the Pre-University Debate League offered by UNEATLANTICO, in which more than four hundred students participated in its V edition.
