UNEATLANTICO celebrates World Theatre Day

The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) celebrated World Theatre Day with an event organised by its Theatre Workshop, during which students had the opportunity to explore the art of acting in greater depth.

During the session, participants focused particularly on the process of theatrical improvisation, a key tool in acting training. Throughout the session, fundamental aspects such as mental agility, the ability to react, and the importance of maintaining constant awareness of fellow performers on stage were addressed. Furthermore, various common situations that may arise during a performance were analysed, thereby fostering preparedness for the unexpected on stage.

As part of this celebration, the Theatre Workshop also took the opportunity to present its upcoming production entitled “Purgatory”, an original play written and developed by the group’s own members. The performance will take place on Friday 8 May at 6.30 pm in the university’s auditorium.

The play offers a plot brimming with humour and reflection: an intern on his first day and a particularly difficult civil servant must decide which souls go to heaven and which to hell. However, an unexpected directive—limiting the number of souls sent to hell to a single group—triggers a series of increasingly implausible situations, as new characters make their appearance in this peculiar purgatory.
