The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) has opened registration for the 10th edition of the San Silvestre Solidarity Race, one of the university’s most iconic events. The race will be held on Wednesday, 17 December, and is organised by the Physical Activity and Sports Service (SAFD). The San Silvestre maintains its sporting, festive and charitable spirit, bringing together students, teachers, administrative staff and the PCTCAN community for the tenth time.
To mark the tenth edition, UNEATLANTICO is offering two ways to participate. On the one hand, registration, which includes a commemorative T-shirt for the 10th edition, costs £10; those interested in obtaining the T-shirt must register before Monday 1 December by contacting the SAFD. On the other hand, solidarity registration, with a symbolic price of £3, will be open until the day of the race.
This year, prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each competitive category. In addition, the best individual costume and the best group costume will be recognised, thus promoting creativity and the festive atmosphere characteristic of this event.
The day will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the collection of race numbers in the campus entrance hall, where the first 100 registrants will receive a Welcome Pack. At 3:40 p.m., there will be a guided warm-up with music on Track 1, and the race will start at 4:00 p.m.
Starting at 4:20 p.m., participants will enjoy hot chocolate, music and a raffle among race participants, followed by the presentation of trophies and prizes.
The route consists of one mile within the Cantabria Science and Technology Park (PCTCAN). The race is open to the entire university community and the PCTCAN community, with the option of participating by running, walking or cheering.
Finally, it should be noted that the proceeds from the charity registration will be donated in full to the Red Cross, in order to support families in financial difficulty by purchasing food and other basic necessities, as part of the actions carried out by the Office of Cooperation and Social Action in conjunction with the SAFD of UNEATLANTICO.
