The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European Atlantic University, UNEATLANTICO) hosted a new session of the “What now?” cycle on its campus. On this occasion, the conference focused on career paths in consulting and the keys to successfully entering this sector.
The talk was led by Carlos Luzuriaga, partner at NTT DATA and consultant from Santander, who explained what consulting work consists of, which types of firms exist and how to prepare an effective selection process.
Aimed mainly at students of the last courses of the degree in Business Administration and Management (ADE), the activity offered a practical orientation to those who are considering their professional future and seek to know firsthand the opportunities of the labor market.
During his speech, Luzuriaga defined consulting as an activity that helps organizations solve complex problems and manage change processes. He stressed that this is a job that requires a high capacity for adaptation, intellectual curiosity and an attitude of continuous learning.
The speaker distinguished three major types of consulting: strategic, operational and technological, and explained that these areas allow intervention in the design of the strategy of companies, in the improvement of their internal processes and in the implementation of advanced technological solutions.
He also devoted a specific space to how to approach a selection process. He recommended having clear professional goals in terms of company type, technology and interests, identifying the reference companies and maintaining a proactive approach, adapting the curriculum and preparing each phase of tests and interviews.
In relation to the most demanded profiles, the NTT DATA partner pointed out that consultants incorporate graduates from various areas of knowledge, and highlighted the value of critical thinking, digital skills, effective communication and willingness to constantly learn.
Initiatives like this allow students to compare their expectations with the reality of the sector, resolve doubts and project themselves in the medium and long term. In this way, UNEATLANTICO not only brings consulting to the classroom, but also accompanies their university community at a key moment of decision, helping them make the transition to the world of work with greater clarity, self-judgment and confidence in the future.
