The rector of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO), Rubén Calderón, and the dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and member of the ACG, Sandra Sumalla, attended the annual awards ceremony of the Cantabrian Academy of Gastronomy (ACG) held at the Palacio de la Magdalena.
During the event, chaired by Javier Hernandez de Sande, president of the ACG, the chef Sergio Basad, owner of the restaurant Casona del Judío, received the award for best chef of the year. The award for best waiter went to José Enrique González, from the Hotel Bahía; while the award for best reporter went to Luis Ruiz Vega. For its part, the restaurant El Bodegón won the award for Best Traditional Cuisine Restaurant.
In this line, Sumalla was in charge of presenting the profile of the special winner of the 6th edition of the ACG awards ceremony, Manuel Quintana, livestock farmer and butcher from Cabezón de la Sal, who received the award for his work during a large part of his professional career, for the benefit of the Tudanca breed, native to Cantabria.
In addition to the award-winning professionals, the event was attended by around a hundred people, including the mayoress of Santander, Gema Igual and the director of Odeca, Juan Luis Centeno.
