The European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO), in the framework of its tenth anniversary and eleventh academic year, has reaffirmed its position as a university reference in the region. In a recent interview broadcast by Cadena COPE Cantabria, Dr. Silvia Aparicio, Vice Rector for Academic Organisation and Teaching Staff, analysed the milestones achieved and outlined the future projections of this educational institution.
During the conversation, Aparicio highlighted the remarkable growth experienced by UNEATLANTICO since its foundation in 2014. What began with eight degree programmes and around 300 students has become an academic community that exceeds 9,000 students, with 900 new students entering this academic year. In addition, he pointed out that approximately one third of Cantabria’s university students are part of UNEATLANTICO.
‘We want to look to the next ten years with a vision of expansion, especially to continue to be an engine of development for Cantabria,’ emphasised Aparicio, stressing the importance of the university’s regional impact.
Expansion of the academic offer
Since its creation, UNEATLANTICO has doubled its academic offer, reaching fifteen bachelor’s degrees and sixteen official master’s degrees, as well as sixty-three own degrees and two doctorate programmes. Among the academic innovations for this academic year, the implementation of a new degree in Translation and Language Teaching, designed to respond to advances in artificial intelligence and technology, replacing the previous programmes in translation, stands out. The university also plans to include a new degree in International Relations in its academic offer next year.
‘We have established ourselves as a university that offers complete educational options in Cantabria, allowing students to study everything from bachelor’s degrees to doctorates without having to move outside the region. This not only represents an economic saving for families, but also contributes to the retention of talent in Cantabria,’ said Aparicio.
Commitment to quality and internationalisation
Dr Aparicio stressed that all the official degrees taught by UNEATLANTICO are accredited by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation(ANECA), which reflects the institution’s firm commitment to educational excellence.
In terms of internationalisation, UNEATLANTICO has a significant percentage of international students, close to twenty percent in the bachelor’s degree programmes and higher in the master’s degree programmes. This approach is strengthened by the university’s membership of Diverse Alliance, a European consortium that promotes the mobility of students and teachers, the integration of subjects in English within the syllabus and collaboration in international research projects.
With a constantly expanding academic community and a solid track record, the European University of the Atlantic reaffirms its commitment to educational quality, regional development and its global vision, preparing to successfully face the challenges of the future.
