The European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) has hosted the gala of the III Short Film Festival of UNEATLANTICO. A total of twelve short films have been presented to this third edition and eleven have been the prizes awarded by the jury in the different sections of the competition.
The gala has been presented by two students of the degree in Journalism (PER), Paula Díaz-Velarde and Beltrán Mostaza, who have animated the festival. Before the awards ceremony, the group False Pretense, has been responsible for enlivening the evening with a dose of rock music.
One of the most outstanding events was the presentation of the Federico Fernández Special Award in recognition of the extensive professional career of Rodolfo Montero de Palacio. A Spanish film director, screenwriter and producer, he is responsible for several successful and acclaimed films, two of which have been awarded the prestigious Goya Award.
This was followed by the awards ceremony. Those in charge of this task were the students, teachers and administrative staff of UNEATLANTICO, who showed their humor and sympathy. First, the award for best sound was announced, which was awarded to Guillermo Sanz, for “Silencio”. The award for best actress went to Lourdes Jiménez for “Obsesión”. In addition, Óscar Súa was chosen best actor for his performance in “Perdona que te moleste”.

On the other hand, the award for best screenplay went to Héctor D. Somonte, for “Perdona que te moleste”, while the award for best cinematography went to Víctor Díaz and Nerea Pérez, for “Embrujo”. In addition, “Kankel, el corazón de la plaza” (Kankel, the heart of the square) has once again taken the stage in the category of best editing.
In this third edition of the UNEATLANTICO Short Film Festival, the award for best production was given to Daniela Calleja and Héctor D. Somonte, for “Perdona que te moleste”. Likewise, in the category of best documentary short film, “Kankel, el corazón de la plaza” was the winner, and the award for best direction went to Héctor D. Somonte, for “Perdona que te moleste”, being this short film the most awarded of the night. “Western”, won the award for best short film.
Ignacio Velasco, professor of communication degrees, one of those responsible for the festival, stressed that the gala is designed so that students of the different degrees can put into practice not only their skills in the creation of audiovisual products, such as short films or documentaries, but also have the opportunity to be part of the awards ceremony, the organization and the achievement of an event like this.
