The Vice-Rector of Academic Planning and Professorship of the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic UNEATLANTICO) and member of the board of directors of the Spanish Conference of Deans and Deans of Economics and Business (CONFEDE), Dr. Silvia Aparicio, met with Miguel Ángel Vázquez Taín, president of the General Council of Economists of Spain (CGE), to promote new lines of work between the Spanish Schools of Economics and Business and the professional associations of economists.
The meeting is part of a shared desire to bring academia and the profession closer together, in line with the existing collaboration agreement between CONFEDE and the CGE, aimed at facilitating the exchange of information on degrees, Promote the joint organization of training activities and strengthen cooperation in studies and reports of common interest.
As a result of the meeting, both sides agreed to enhance the participation of teaching and research staff in the Register of Teaching and Research Economists (REDI), promotes economic education and research, defends the professional interests of university teaching staff and provides scientific and technical advice to the Council. Within this framework, the continuous improvement of the quality of economics education will be promoted through continuing training initiatives and the organization of academic meetings.
The dissemination of socio-economic data sheets prepared by the CGE will also be promoted among teachers, and collaboration in studies on technical and cross-cutting vocational skills will be strengthened. In the same way, CONFEDE and CGE will intensify the transfer of knowledge from the Faculties of Economy and Enterprise to society, encouraging research lines linked to real business challenges and socio-economic impact.
In the field of students, the institutions agreed to strengthen dissemination and collaboration in job exchanges for students and recent graduates, bringing together professional opportunities through the network of colleges of economists. In addition, joint external internship programmes between universities and professional colleges will be promoted with the aim of improving employability and the development of skills in real contexts.
The CONFEDE-CGE collaboration framework establishes stable cooperation for the exchange of academic information, the dissemination of economics and business studies, the organization of congresses, conferences and seminars, the preparation of reports and the promotion of professional qualifications linked to curricula and continuing training. With these actions, CONFEDE and the CGE -under the impetus of vice-rectors Silvia Aparicio and Vázquez Taín- are advancing a shared agenda to link university education with the demands of the profession, Strengthen the academic and professional communities and improve the employability of students in economics and business.
