Dr. Carmen Matías Pérez de Rodríguez, Vice-Minister of Higher Education at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCYT) of the Dominican Republic, visited the European University of the Atlantic.
Upon her arrival, she was received by the rector of UNEATLANTICO, Dr. Rubén Calderón, and by secretary general Dr. Roberto Ruiz. In this way, the Vice-Minister was given a tour through the University’s facilities, visiting all the laboratories, the exhibition hall and the assembly hall, the different classrooms, the sports facilities and UNEATLANTICO’s University Residence.
Likewise, she met the Vice-Rector for Academic Planning, Dr. Silvia Aparicio and the director of the International Relations Office (IRO), Dr. Juan Luis Vidal, who presented the academic institution’s educational methodology.
During her visit to the University, Carmen Matías Pérez de Rodríguez, learned about the collaboration scholarship programs in Computer Engineering from the dean of the Higher Polytechnic School, Dr. Manuel Masías, as well as the different projects carried out by the department.
The Vice-Minister of Higher Education also had a meeting with María Luisa Sámano, professor and Project Director of the Center for Industrial Research and Technology of Cantabria (CITICAN), who presented the University’s research projects, addressing aspects related to the food area and the technology center.
Lastly, topics related to international relations between the different countries were discussed during the visit, affirming the close relationship between the University and Latin America, and recalling the international nature of UNEATLANTICO.
