The European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) is organizing the fifth edition of the Pan-American Pre-University Debate League, which will take place from April 15 to May 3 and in which seventy-two teams from fifteen Latin American countries will participate. Schools from Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic and Venezuela will be represented.
It should be recalled that prior to the celebration, a course in the fundamentals of debate will be offered to help prepare the 450 students from different schools participating in this new edition. The purpose of this training course is to enable students to acquire communication, argumentation and research skills with analytical and communicative criteria.
As in the past four editions, a National League will be held where the topic to be discussed, this year, will be “The use of artificial intelligence in academia, as a tool, does it benefit the student’s development?”. The winning teams at the national level will have the opportunity to represent their country in the V edition of the Pan American Debate League. In this international round, the topic on which the debate will focus will be “Is the use of social networks useful as a source of truthful information?”
As in all the Debate Leagues that have been organized, UNEATLANTICO will award the winning team, the runner-up and the best speaker of the V edition of the League. In this sense, schools, teachers and students can consult the rules in this link, to finish preparing their participation.
The organizing committee of the Debate League UNEATLANTICO wishes good luck to all teams during this edition and hopes that learning will be beneficial for all students who will participate.
