The European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) contributed to the Asociación Hermandad de Donantes de Sangre de Cantabria another year for the blood and bone marrow donation days. The mobile unit went to the university campus through the Office of Cooperation and Social Action (OCAS) to collect donations from teachers, students and the rest of the university community who wanted to participate in this solidarity action.
To do so, the University set up a room where doctors, nurses and medical staff were able to carry out interviews and extractions. In order to be able to donate, candidates had to meet a series of requirements such as being between 18 and 65 years of age, weighing more than 50 kilos, not fasting and not having any type of infectious disease. In addition, each donor has undergone a prior examination in which their blood pressure and iron levels have been measured, along with a personal interview to assess their health conditions.
In this line, it is worth remembering that these conferences are held once every four months of the academic year, with the aim of raising awareness among the university community as well as motivating them to contribute to guaranteeing the continuity of donations in the region.
On this same day, the Association has encouraged the entire university community to also collaborate with the donation of bone marrow, offering those interested all the information about it.
