The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) is organizing the third edition of the Short Film Festival and invites students to submit their fiction, animation, documentary and experimental works to the competition.
The Festival will take place on May 22 and 23 at the university’s auditorium and will be open to students who are studying or have studied at the institution, either in person or by distance learning. In addition, short films produced during the 2022-2023 academic year that have not been presented in the previous edition of the Short Film Festival may be submitted to the 3rd Festival.
The nominated works will be screened on Wednesday, May 22, in the auditorium. Then on Thursday23, the gala will be presented and produced entirely by students of the university. At the event, the winning short films will be unveiled.
The awards will be given exclusively to students or graduates of the Universidad Europea del Atlántico, except for the categories of best actor and best actress. This year, the awards of the Short Film Festival are distributed in eleven categories, where the award for best production stands out as a novelty:
- Best short film.
- Best direction.
- Best production.
- Best Actor.
- Best Actress.
- Best documentary short film.
- Best screenplay.
- Best photography.

Likewise, the Universidad Europea del Atlántico will once again present the Federico Fernández Special Award, which recognizes outstanding careers linked to the world of cinema. Jordi Brau and Silvia Venegas were the winners in previous editions.
As a novelty, in this third gala, UNEATLANTICO will award a cash prize of 100 euros to each of the three best short films. The ranking will be based on the number of awards won, and in the event of a tie, the number of nominations will decide.
