Florent Osmani, teacher of the degree in Science of Physical Activity and Sport (CAFYD) of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) accompanied by the head of the physical education department of the institute IES Muriedas, Ivan Gonzalez Gutierrez, have given a talk on injury prevention to students of the institute.
The talk was given as part of the subject taught by Osmani, giving way to a theoretical and practical talk. To begin with, they talked about injuries, how to prevent them, how self-assessments can be performed, as well as the importance of injury care and more. In this way, students were able to understand the theoretical aspect of injuries before doing the practical part.
Moving on to the practical part of the session, a series of different exercises were performed in order to see ankle mobility, jump strength and neuromuscular control. This also allowed the students to analyze the movement and
perform a self-evaluation of their physical condition and performance.
Technical talks for high school students
The University maintains a collaborative relationship with the IES Muriedas high school with the aim of promoting an active and healthy lifestyle. As an example of the close relationship between both institutions, it is worth mentioning that at the beginning of this year the teacher Ainhoa Bores gave a technical talk in the biomechanics laboratory to a group of high school students. This talk was about what biomechanics is and again it was divided into a theoretical and a practical part. It was aimed at students taking the elective course “Active and Healthy Lifestyle”, in order to bring students to know the degree in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences of UNEATLANTICO.
