The Spanish Association of Translators, Proofreaders and Interpreters (ASETRAD) visited the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) with the aim of making itself known among the students of the degrees in Translation and Interpreting and Applied Languages.
Some of the representatives and an associate graduate of the University were present: José Manuel Manteca, treasurer of the association in Cantabria; Cristina Fuentes, a representative member of the association with a great reputation; and Patricia Miaja, a graduate student of UNEATLANTICO.
During the talk, they presented what this association is and the benefits of being part of it in order to get translation orders and information about clients. They also talked about the internship opportunities offered in this professional sector and how the job market for translators works beyond the university.
They also explained the types of membership to the association, the challenges facing the sector with the emergence of Artificial Intelligence as one of the biggest challenges and the portfolio of clients that associates enter for future work.
Students of the degree in Translation and Language Teaching were in attendance, all of them showing a noticeable interest in the talk. In addition, the students had the opportunity to clarify their doubts, as well as to receive more detailed information about ASETRAD.
It is worth mentioning that the management of the degree, in order to bring students closer to the current situation of their professional sector, has also recently held the IV Conference on Employability in Translation and Interpreting and Applied Languages.
