For the seventh consecutive year, the Fundación Universitaria Iberoamericana (FUNIBER) presents the PHotoFUNIBER International Photography Competition. This year, we are interested in rewarding the best images that represent the theme of ‘education’.
The deadline for registration and submission of works, through the competition website, begins this Wednesday, 5 March, and will be open until 1 April, at 23:59 (Spanish time).
Also participating in this competition are the universities in the FUNIBER collaboration network, such as the European University of the Atlantic, the International University of Cuanza (UNIC), the International Ibero-American University (UNINI Mexico), the International University Foundation of Colombia (UNINCOL), the University of La Romana (UNIROMANA) and the International Ibero-American University (UNIB).
The competition is open to anyone of legal age, amateur and professional photographers, resident in any of the countries where FUNIBER has a presence.
How to participate?
Entrants may only submit a single image, which must be original and must not have been awarded in other competitions or commercially exploited (whether for journalistic, advertising or any other purposes). The image cannot be made by artificial intelligence or digital art, but the theme can be represented in a creative way.
After an initial pre-selection of 100 images, a Jury of Honour made up of photography specialists will be responsible for evaluating the photographs and selecting the winners.
The finalist photographs will be available from 28 April on the competition website, where a popular vote will be held until 15 May. The winners will be announced on 12 June.
Prizes
The author of the photograph chosen by the jury will receive a prize of €400 and an 80% scholarship to study one of the postgraduate programmes promoted by FUNIBER. The photograph with the most public votes will also receive a prize of 300 euros and a 50% scholarship to study a postgraduate programme sponsored by the organisation.
A total of six special prizes will also be awarded to students and alumni of UNEATLANTICO, UNIC and FUNIBER scholarship holders who have completed their studies or are currently studying. In addition, there may be honourable mentions.
This year, we are inaugurating the UNIROMANA Special Prize, exclusively for nationals of the Dominican Republic. The winners of the special prizes will receive 200 euros each.
The competition, promoted within the framework of FUNIBER’s Cultural Work, is organised with the aim of recognising talent, promoting the participation of students from the network and generating a space for reflection and contemplation on the world around us.
