The Physical Activity and Sport Service (SAFD) of the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European Atlantic University, UNEATLANTICO), in collaboration with the company HANDBROK, organized a Paddle Tennis Tournament for the university community to promote sports.
The competition was structured into three categories: Initiation, for those who start in paddle; Intermediate; and Mixed, designed to facilitate the participation of players of all levels. The participants enjoyed a competitive and at the same time social environment, favoring conviviality and university spirit.
The tournament began with a group stage on 1 December and concluded with the final round on 9 December. The champions were Enrique Sánchez and Rodrigo Izquierdo in the Initiation category; Luis Rafael Herrero and Jesús Cuevas in the Intermediate category; and Javier Trueba Bonet and Marta Rivero Zárraga in the Mixed category.
This year, UNEATLANTICO has signed an important agreement with HANDBROK, a Madrid company that is consolidating in the world of paddle tennis, and with this agreement the collaboration between the university and the company is strengthened. As part of this agreement, merchandising was delivered in the form of t-shirts with SAFD and HANDBROK logos. In addition, HANDBROK donated the model of shovel Roma, drawn among the participants and won by Inés Cobo.
UNEATLANTICO continues to consolidate itself as an institution committed to sports training, offering the Degree in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (CAFYD), aimed at preparing highly qualified professionals in physical exercise, sports performance and promotion of healthy habits.
With initiatives such as this tournament, and thanks to strategic agreements such as the one signed with HANDBROK, the Physical Activity and Sport Service seeks to promote the practice of sports within the academic environment and strengthen university participation in healthy activities.
