The Service of Physical Activity and Sport (SAFD) of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) together with the Cantabrian Pickleball Association have carried out the organization of the first sports workshop of the course.
After an explanation of the origins of the sport in the United States in the 60’s and how it has become one of the fastest growing sports, attendees were able to play under the supervision of members of the Cantabrian Pickleball Association.
For his part, Pedro Gutiérrez Gómez, president of the Cantabrian Pickleball Association, stressed “the ease with which any type of person, both young and old, can join this sport, which is a combination of tennis, table tennis, paddle tennis and badminton”.
Also, the members of the UNEATLANTICO community who participated were able to learn about the rules for the next tournament of this sport organized by the SAFD.
It is worth mentioning the close relationship between UNEATLANTICO and the Cantabrian Pickleball Association. Last March, the institutions signed a collaboration agreement with the aim of promoting the sport at regional level from training, ensuring the transmission of values through sport, and that is why they are currently organizing more activities together.
For its part, the Physical Activity and Sports Service will continue to promote activities to practice and learn about various sports, encouraging their practice among the university community.
