The rector of the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO), Rubén Calderón, attends the Centro Integrado de Formación Profesional (Integrated Vocational Training Center, CIFP) La Granja de Heras for the official inauguration of the new livestock and agri-food facilities.
The event was also attended by María José Sáenz de Buruaga, President of Cantabria, and Sergio Silva, Minister of Education, Vocational Training, and Universities, together with the General Directors of Livestock and Educational Centers and Infrastructures.
The visit of the Rector was made due to the close relationship of UNEATLANTICO with the sector thanks to the degree in Agro-Food Engineering (IIAA) that it offers on its university campus, which has clear synergies with the innovations presented in the new facilities at La Granja.
The new facilities have benefited from a 2.5-million-euro investment from European funds. This investment has financed the development of a 1,600 square meter fully automated dairy barn and the transformation of what was previously a barn and agricultural machinery warehouse into an area dedicated to agri-food industries, equipped with digitalized classrooms and specific areas for the processing of dairy and meat products.
This commitment to innovation and quality training in the agri-food and livestock sector is perfectly integrated with the mission and vision of UNEATLANTICO, which strives to provide its students with an updated and comprehensive training that contributes to their professional development from the degree in Agro-Food Engineering (IIAA).
