The management and administration of a club, the main topic of the second talk in the series “Innovation and well-being in sport” at UNEATLANTICO

“The functioning of Spanish professional soccer as developed by LaLiga”

Quico Catalán, senior advisor to CVC and former vice president of LaLiga, heads a top-notch lineup along with Felipe Llamazares, Pablo N. Ruiz, Javier Maestegui and Alejandro Gómez.

The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) is hosting the second session of the series of talks entitled “Innovation and Well-being in Sport”, scheduled for Monday, April 14, which will focus on the management of a club under the theme “Management and Administration of a Sports Club”. Quico Catalán, senior advisor to CVC, former vice-president of the Professional Football League and former president of Levante UD will be present. The talk will begin at 7:00 p.m. and access is open to all audiences.

Quico Catalán will be joined on the panel by Felipe Llamazares and Pablo N. Ruiz, General Manager and Marketing Director of Real Racing Club, respectively; Alejandro Gómez, head of commercial strategy at Bathco Balonmano Torrelavega; and Javier Maestegui, president of CD Voleibol Textil Santanderina.

Quico Catalán leads a line-up of extraordinary speakers who also represent various sports, allowing all attendees to benefit from their knowledge, not only in relation to football. The inaugural topic of the presentation given by Catalán, one of the leading authorities on elite football in our country, will be “The functioning of Spanish professional football as developed by LaLiga”.

After the presentation, there will be a round table discussion with the aforementioned Felipe Llamazares, Pablo Ruiz, Alejandro Gómez and Javier Maestegui, as well as the former vice-president of LaLiga. In the final minutes of the session, the audience will have the opportunity to put their questions and concerns to the experts.

About the series of talks

The Royal Cantabrian Football Federation, the European University of the Atlantic and the Real Racing Club Foundation are organizing a series of educational talks under the title “Innovation and Wellbeing in Sport”. Comprising four talks spread over the months of March, April and May, it will be held in the UNEATLANTICO auditorium and is completely free and open to all. The lectures will cover topics such as the management of a sports club, the use of new technologies applied to sports performance, the importance of nutrition in athletes, training planning and the injury rate in women’s football, among others.

The four sessions will be held on Mondays from 7:00 p.m. and last approximately an hour and a half. The first part of the training will be a presentation, and in the second part, the issues will be analyzed in a round table discussion with various professionals.

MONDAY, MARCH 17 (7:00 PM) “New technologies applied to sports performance.” With Dr. Julio Calleja, Dr. Javier González Iglesias and Daniel Salvador.

MONDAY, APRIL 14 (7:00 PM) “Management and administration of a sports club.” With Quico Catalán, Pablo Ruiz, Felipe Llamazares, Alejandro Gómez and Javier Maestegui.

MONDAY, APRIL 28 (7:00 PM) “Nutritional strategies to improve performance in sports.” With Toscana Viar, Juan Carlos Llamas, José Iván Gutiérrez, and Íñigo Sáinz-Maza.

MONDAY, MAY 19 (7:00 PM) “Women’s Soccer and the Menstrual Cycle: Training, Injuries, and Performance.” With Blanca Romero, Cristina Acebal and Anna Reina.
