The jury awards the Food Industry Innovation Chair to AgroCantabria

The jury of the 3rd edition of the UNEATLANTICO-Banco Santander Food Industry Innovation Chair has awarded the award this year to AgroCantabria, the leading agro-livestock company in the region.

AgroCantabria was born as a sum of different entities in the sector that decided to unite with the aim of gaining strength in an area that is increasingly competitive. One of the company’s main advances has been its feed factory where they are able to formulate customized feed for each farm and adapt the diets of the animals according to their needs.

On the other hand, it is worth mentioning the recent collaboration with Ampros for the preparation of dishes prepared from the meat of Cantabria with IPG, which is an example of great social innovation and diversification of products. They have also introduced new technologies into the livestock sector with the aim of modernizing meat and milk production.

The various innovations and modernizations that AgroCantabria has been developing for years is what has led the company to win the award of the UNEATLANTICO-Banco Santander Food Industry Innovation Chair.

The members of the jury who met on the campus of the Universidad Europea del Atlántico were Roberto García and Rebeca Gómez, representatives of Banco Santander; Emilio Casuso, director of the Innovation Chair for the Food Industry and academic director of the degree in Agricultural and Food Industries Engineering (IIAA) at UNEATLANTICO; José Luis Pérez, director of Cantabria at the Board of the Journal Montañés; Javier Puente, Director-General of Innovation, Technological Development and Industrial Entrepreneurship of the Government of Cantabria; Paulino San Emeterio, Director-General of Fisheries and Food; Pachi Aguilera, Director-General of CEOEO; Iñaki Elio, Director of the Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics (NHD) from UNEATLANTICO; Marina Pelayo, coordinator of the degree in Gastronomy (GASTRO); Javier Hernández, president of the Cantabrian Academy of Gastronomy; Francisco Zunzunegui, director of SITE UNEATLANTICO; Mar Pacheco, director of CITICAN; Jesús Peña, general secretary of UNEATLANTICO and finally, Rubén Calderón, Rector of the European Atlantic University.
