The academic director of the degrees in Communication, Dr. Helena Garay, and the teacher Ángela Terán, come in representation of the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO), one of the sponsors of the event, to the delivery of the Premio Mujer Cantabria 2025 awarded by Onda Cero.

The first lieutenant colonel of the Civil Guard in Cantabria has been awarded with the VII Premio Mujer Cantabria Onda Cero in an event organized at the Palace of the Magdalena in Santander. The jury of the award recognized their effort, leadership, dedication and public service vocation. In addition to qualifying it as a benchmark for younger women.

Villasante entered the General Military Academy of Zaragoza in 2000. His first assignment as a lieutenant was at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, where he served as an official during the ETA terrorist attack in Terminal 4 in 2006, one of the most serious episodes experienced in Spanish airport infrastructures.

Having occupied different destinations in Madrid, his goal was always to return to Cantabria. This wish has been fulfilled this year with his appointment to the Command Headquarters in the region, where he assumes responsibility for Personnel and Support. From this position he coordinates the management of approximately 1,300 civil guards stationed in the autonomous community.

Garay said that for the university, being a member of the jury and being present at the delivery of the Women’s Award Cantabria 2025 Zero Wave is a clear way to show support and commitment to society. It is not just a matter of attending an event, but of accompanying and recognising career paths which have a real and positive impact. From the University we believe it is important to give visibility to these awards and, above all, be part of them.

He also praised his career as an example of hard work, consistency and responsibility: “for our students, and especially for our students, his figure demonstrates that access to leadership positions is possible when there is preparation and effort. Recognizing profiles like yours helps to normalize the presence of women in very senior positions and move towards a more egalitarian society,” he said.

The European Atlantic University continues to collaborate with Onda Cero to make visible the talent of outstanding Cantabrian women, whose career contributes to building a more just and equitable society in Cantabria and throughout Spain.
