The European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) is organising the fourth edition of the Short Film Festival and invites students to submit their fiction, animation, documentary and experimental works to the competition.
The festival will be held on 21 and 22 May in the university’s Assembly Hall. All the students of the university, who are studying or have studied a degree both on-site and online, have the opportunity to submit a short film. In this edition, the International University of Cuanza (UNIC) will be invited to participate.
It should be noted that fiction, experimental and animation short films must last 10 minutes maximum, while documentaries can last up to 20 minutes. Moreover, short films produced during the academic year 2023-2024 which have not been presented at the previous edition of the Short Film Festival can be submitted to the IV Festival.
The nominated short films will be screened on the 21st of May in the afternoon and the awards ceremony will be held on the 22nd. The awards will be given exclusively to students or graduates of the Universidad Europea del Atlántico, except for the categories of best actor and best actress. This year the awards of the Short Film Festival are divided into nine categories:
- Best Short Film
- Best direction
- Best production
- Best Actor
- Best Actress
- Best Screenplay
- Best Cinematography
- Best Editing
- Best Sound
Likewise, the European University of the Atlantic will once again present the Federico Fernández Special Award, which recognises outstanding careers linked to the world of cinema.
Along the same lines, this year’s edition will also include cash prizes. Each of the three best short films will be awarded with an amount of € 100. The short films will be classified according to the number of prizes won. In case of a tie, the number of nominations will decide.
The deadline for registration and receipt of entries is Wednesday 30 April 2025 at 23:59 hours. You can consult all the information about the rules on this link.
