The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) is organising the fifth edition of the Short Film Festival, which has been named the ‘FEDE Awards’ in honour of Federico Fernández, director of cultural affairs at FUNIBER and UNEATLANTICO, in recognition of his outstanding career.
The nominated short films will be screened on the afternoon of Wednesday, 20 May, and the festival will be held on Thursday, 21 May, both in the university’s Assembly Hall. Both UNEATLANTICO students and non-students are eligible to participate. Works of any genre will be accepted, including fiction, animation, documentary, and experimental. In the Fiction Short Film category, the maximum length will be 10 minutes, and in the Documentary Short Film category, the maximum length will be 20 minutes, not including credits in either case. In addition, short films that have not been awarded prizes in previous editions of this festival may be submitted.
The Short Film Festival awards are distributed across eleven categories:
- Best Short Film.
- Best Director.
- Best Production.
- Best Newcomer.
- Best Actor.
- Best Actress.
- Best Screenplay.
- Best Cinematography.
- Best Art Direction.
- Best Editing.
- Best Sound.
Each of the three best short films will be awarded €100. These will be ranked based on the number of prizes won.
The deadline for registration and receipt of entries is Thursday, 7 May at 11:59 p.m.
