The European University of the Atlantic and Inserta Empleo bring disability to the university environment in the day ‘Taste Diversity’

The event, which will take place on 1 December, will include the participation of the Paralympic trainer Alejandro Sánchez Palomero, an inclusive escape room and various ‘Access Corners’ to sensitize the university community

On the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of People with Disabilities, the European University of the Atlantic  (UNEATLANTICO)  will host on 1 December the ‘Taste Diversity’, an initiative organized by Inserta Empleo, a ONCE Foundation entity, with the aim of raising awareness and bringing the reality of disability to the university environment.

The event, co-funded by the European Union and aimed at students, teaching and research staff and members of the university community, aims to encourage reflection on inclusion, Breaking down prejudices and enhancing the talents of people with disabilities in a normalization context.

The program will include an inspiring encounter with Paralympic trainer Alejandro Sánchez Palomero, who will share his life and professional experience. An inclusive escape room, which will simulate everyday barriers faced by people with disabilities, and several ‘Access Corners’ have also been organized, Interactive spaces where attendees can approach different realities through play and experimentation.

The day will end with a tasting space of inclusive products under the title ‘Our recipes for inclusion’, which will serve as a meeting point and networking.

This activity is part of the commitment of the European Atlantic University, through its Office for Cooperation and Social Action, and Inserta Empleo to promote more accessible and inclusive higher education, as well as preparing future professionals to contribute to the building of a diverse society.

Fundacion ONCE e insert employment

Fundación ONCE is the main Spanish social entity that works for the full inclusion of people with disabilities by developing initiatives and programmes in the fields of employment, training and universal accessibility

To this end, he promoted the organization Inserta Empleo, an expert in human resources and care for people with disabilities, with more than 25 years of experience and 53 offices throughout Spain. Their work is focused on improving employability, training and connecting talent with committed companies, offering a free job placement service.

The activity of Inserta Empleo is part of the FSE+ state programmes ‘Youth Employment’ (CCI 2021ES05SFPR001) and ‘Social inclusion, child guarantee and fight against poverty’ (2021ES05SFPR003) and the programme ‘FSE+ Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands’, (CCI2021ES05SFPR009), which is being developed by Fundación ONCE through Inserta Empleo, with co-financing from the European Union to increase training and employment for people with disabilities.
