The academic director of the degrees in Communication, Ana Visiers, and Professor Helena Garay, responsible for Cultural Extension, attend on behalf of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO), one of the sponsors of the event, to the presentation of the Cantabria 2024 Women’s Prize awarded by Onda Cero.
The engineer Conchi Ortega has been awarded with the VI Onda Cero Cantabria Woman Award in an event organised in the Palacio de la Magdalena in Santander. The event was presided over by important figures such as the President of Cantabria, María José Sáenz de Buruaga, the Mayoress of Santander, Gema Igual, and the editor-in-chief of Atresmedia, Juande Colmenero.
The award-winner, with more than 25 years of experience, has spent almost her entire professional life in the company IDOM, where she currently holds the position of ‘Director of Global Corporate Development’. She has also been vice-president of MAFEX, the Spanish Railway Industry Association, for the last six years, and vice-dean of the Cantabrian branch of the College of Civil Engineers.
Buruaga, who awarded the prize together with the editor-in-chief of Nacional de Atresmedia, Juande Colmenero, highlighted in his speech the talent of Cantabrian women, as evidenced by the fact that there were nearly forty candidates submitted in this edition. This is very good news that tells us that there is plenty to choose from, that there is a pool of talent, talent and good work,’ said Buruaga. She also said that Conchi Ortega ‘broke moulds and labels’ in a mostly male world and that today she is an ‘authority’ in her profession.
