The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) and the Fundación Universitaria Iberoamericana (Ibero-American University Foundation, FUNIBER) invite everyone to take part in the PHotoFUNIBER’26 International Photography Competition. In this eighth edition, we will be awarding prizes for the best images that capture the theme of ‘social impact’.
The registration period and submission of entries, via the competition website, begins this Thursday, 12 March, and will remain open until 20 April at 23:59 (Spanish time).
The universities in FUNIBER’s collaboration network are also taking part in this competition: the International University of Cuanza (UNIC), the International Ibero-American University (UNINI Mexico), the International University Foundation of Colombia (UNINCOL), the University of La Romana (UNIROMANA) and the International Ibero-American University (UNIB).
The competition is open to anyone of legal age, including amateur and professional photographers, who are residents of any of the countries where FUNIBER operates.
How to enter?
Entrants may submit only one image, which must be original and must not have won a prize in any other competition or been used commercially (whether for journalistic, advertising or any other purposes). The image must not be created using artificial intelligence or digital art, but the theme may be interpreted creatively.
Following an initial shortlist of 100 images, a Jury of Honour, comprising photography specialists, will assess the photographs and select the winners.
The shortlisted photographs will be available from 30 April on the competition website, where a public vote will take place until 26 May. The winners will be announced on 25 June.
Prizes
The photographer whose entry is selected by the jury will receive a prize of €400 and an 80% scholarship to study one of the postgraduate programmes offered by FUNIBER. The photograph with the most public votes will also receive a prize of €300 and a 50% scholarship to study a postgraduate programme sponsored by the Foundation.
A total of six special prizes will also be awarded to the best photographs taken by current students and alumni of UNEATLANTICO, UNIC, UNIROMANA and FUNIBER scholarship holders who have completed their studies or are currently studying. The winners of the special prizes will each receive €200. In addition, there may be honourable mentions.
The competition, promoted as part of the Cultural Programme of FUNIBER and UNEATLANTICO, is organised with the aim of recognising talent, encouraging participation from students within the network, and creating a space for reflection and contemplation on the world around us.
