The Cultural Work of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) and the Ibero-American University Foundation (FUNIBER) has inaugurated the exhibition “Picasso: still surprising” in the facilities of the Spanish Stadium of Las Condes in Santiago de Chile.
The opening ceremony was attended by distinguished representatives of the political and academic spheres, among them the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain in Chile, Mr. Rafael Garranzo García; the President of the Estadio Español de Las Condes, Mr. Juan Erenchun; the Rector of the Universidad Internacional do Cuanza in Angola, Mr. Carlos Jélvez; and the Director of FUNIBER in Chile, Ms. Vivian Lipari.
The exhibition “Picasso: Still Surprising” is composed of three complete collections. The first one, “Les Bleus de Barcelona”, consists of 11 works that reflect the artist’s early periods in Barcelona. The second collection, “Dancers,” includes 14 prints on leather that capture dancers in a single stroke, demonstrating Picasso’s technical and aesthetic mastery. Finally, “Geneviève” integrates 12 works on Japan paper, made in the 1950s and published in 1974, which portray Geneviève, Picasso’s young lover, in a series of spontaneous and decorative drawings, revealing a more personal and lesser-known aspect of the artist.
The importance of this exhibition lies in its ability to bring the public closer to the genius of one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Through the three collections, visitors have the opportunity to explore different facets of Pablo Picasso, from his early works in Barcelona to his last and most intimate drawings.
