The teachers of the degree in Psychology (PSI), Sara Morales and Ángel Rojas, from the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO), gave a talk to the high school students of the IES Villajunco with the aim of having a first approach to the university and focused on the degree in Psychology.
The session allowed students to learn first-hand what psychology is as a scientific discipline. During the meeting, key aspects such as the definition of psychology, the main myths and realities associated with this profession and some relevant data on the current situation of mental health were addressed.
Also, the teachers presented the curriculum of the degree, detailing the subjects, the academic structure and the different mentions offered, in order to guide future university graduates in their decision-making.
The talk also included an explanation about the functioning of the university’s Neuropsychology laboratory and the various instruments used in student practical training. As part of the activity, a demonstration was carried out with one of the teams, the BIOPAC system, with which several student volunteers were able to participate in small practical tests, thus approaching the university experience in a dynamic and participatory way.
