A group of second and third year students of the Degree in Journalism at the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) attended the intervention of the general director of the SER radio station, Ignacio Soto, at the SER Cantabria Forum.
The students were invited by the radio station to participate in the informative breakfast held in the halls of the Hotel Real in Santander. They were accompanied by the vice-rector of Academic Planning and Teaching Staff and the teacher of UNEATLANTICO and dean of the College of Journalists of Cantabria, Olga Agüero.
Soto celebrated the good health of the radio, which is received by citizens as the medium they trust the most in a context of disinformation, in which disproving hoaxes costs ten times more than generating news.
The head of all the broadcasters of the network estimated that radio has been strengthened by podcasts and audio content broadcasting platforms. Likewise, with regard to AI, among other issues he referred to during his speech, he considered that it is not going to replace journalists. Only those who do not know how to use it, he said.
This experience has been a positive opportunity for the future communicators to acquire more knowledge about radio and the inner workings of a media outlet, thus familiarising them with the working environment and some of their future colleagues.
