As part of the subject ‘Computer Networks’ taught by the teacher Mariano Benito, the students of the degree in Computer Engineering (II) of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) had the opportunity to learn about the work done in the CIC Group, engineering and development of computer and communications projects.
The visit was conducted by CIC Group engineers, including José Miguel Prellezo, Director of Development and Integration; Juan Prego, Director of Human Resources and Organisation; Alfonso Azofra, Head of Communications and Cybersecurity; Pablo Lisaso, Operations Manager; and Alejandro Lopez-Casero, Project Manager at CIC.
The students received an introductory talk about the purpose and work carried out in the company by Prellezo, who focused on the idea of teaching and designing products and projects with quality. This was followed by a tour of the company’s facilities.
Alfonso Azofra and Pablo Lisaso showed the Computer Engineering students the ‘Network Operation Center’ (NOC), a centralised place in the company where the computer and telecommunications systems are supervised and managed. The UNEATLANTICO students were shown tools such as the videowall, a set of monitors joined together to display digital content; the communications rack , as well as the space where valuable equipment is housed and more information about the User Service Centre (CAU).
They were then guided to the Data Processing Centre (DPC) and the Training Room, a facility that centralises the organisation’s operations and infrastructure for storing, processing, handling and disseminating data and applications. This tour ended in the SGRwin 3rd room, the suite of solutions for the management and monitoring of multi-vendor networks, which meets the needs of network management.
