Students studying Journalism (PER), Advertising and Public Relations (PRP), and Psychology (PSI) at the Universidad Europea del Atlantico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) Noa Pinillos, Patricia Pellón, Martina Quirós and Sofía Díez took part on 9 and 10 June in Mahou Lab 2025, a creative laboratory promoted by Mahou San Miguel that brought together students from different Spanish universities in Madrid. The students, who are studying Campaign Design and Planning, were accompanied by their teacher, Juan Delalama.
The event took place at the Ilunion Tower, where the teams presented their proposals to a jury made up of renowned professionals from the advertising and marketing sector. ‘We were a little nervous at first, but it was a really enriching experience,’ said one of the participants. After the presentations, attendees enjoyed a networking space that allowed them to interact with students from other universities and receive direct and personalised feedback from the judges.
On 10 June, the group visited the headquarters of Mahou San Miguel, where the five teams selected for the next phase of the programme were announced. Although not all the groups made it through, the students particularly appreciated the collaborative atmosphere and shared learning during the day.
One of the highlights was the feedback session with Marina Specht, non-executive chair of McCann Worldgroup Europe, who offered professional advice and an inside look at the industry. She also invited the group to visit McCann’s offices in Madrid, where they were able to discover the inner workings of one of the most prestigious agencies in the sector worldwide.
‘The visit to McCann was the icing on the cake. We were able to see how different professional profiles work, which helped us to better understand the sector and visualise possible career paths. It was an amazing experience, the kind that motivates you and makes you realise that you are on the right track,’ concluded the group of UNEATLANTICO students.
Participation in Mahou Lab 2025 represents a unique opportunity for UNEATLANTICO students, who were able to apply the knowledge acquired in the classroom in a real-world environment, connect with industry leaders and plan their professional future with greater clarity.
