Students from the CAFYD degree programme at UNEATLANTICO participate in a weightlifting workshop

Second-year students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences (CAFYD) at the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) recently participated in a Weightlifting Workshop, taught by a former student of the degree programme who is a specialist in strength, performance and health.

The activity took place during the week of 7 to 11 April, as part of the Fundamentals of Training course coordinated by Professor Susana Pulgar. The workshop combined theoretical and practical sessions with the aim of offering students a comprehensive and applied learning experience.

The theoretical part covered key topics such as load management in training, the psychological component in weightlifting competition and the current job market for coaches specialising in this discipline in Cantabria.

The practical phase focused on the execution of the two main Olympic movements: Snatch and Clean & Jerk. During these sessions, fundamental technical aspects were worked on, such as individual biomechanics, mobility tools, strategies to optimise force production and technical analysis on video using professional applications.

This type of initiative reinforces students’ practical learning, allows them to apply the knowledge acquired in class and encourages contact with professionals in the sector and graduates of the degree programme. In addition, they contribute to the knowledge and integration of Olympic disciplines such as weightlifting in the field of physical training and sports performance.

With workshops such as this, UNEATLANTICO reaffirms its commitment to providing training that is closely linked to the professional world, offering its students educational experiences with significant added value.
