The Botín Center, located in Santander, hosts the III International Congress Art Time 2024. An event aimed at reflecting on the place of art in today’s society and has been attended by Silvia Aparicio, Vice Chancellor of Academic Planning and Faculty of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO).
The Vice Rector of UNEATLANTICO, Silvia Aparicio, accompanies Merche Zubiaga, founder and director of Tiempo de Arte, in the III Congress focused on the theme “Culture as a tool for business innovation”. The meeting, inaugurated by Gema Igual, mayoress of Santander, and closed by the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sport, Eva Guillermina Fernández, together with the president of the CEOE, Antonio Garamendi, proposed the integration of art in the sustainable development of companies.
The congress sought to promote cultural innovation with the aim of incorporating the arts and culture in all areas of society, in a tangible way, fostering human development and highlighting the transformative and beneficial potential of art in society.
More than thirty participants discussed the impact of art and creativity in the business world. Prominent figures such as the singer Miguel Ríos, the writer Félix Ovejero, the journalist Charo Izquierdo and the CEO of Forbes, Ignacio Quintana, were the protagonists of the III International Art Time Congress, where cultural managers, artists, entrepreneurs and academics discussed the role of art and culture as tools for business innovation.
Silvia Aparicio expressed that, in increasingly developed societies with basic needs covered, concerns are focused on problems such as mental health, the environment, sustainability, inclusion and art as tools to increase the efficiency and profitability of companies. In this context, the University, through the head of the Cultural Extension area, Helena Garay, and Federico Fernandez, director of the Cultural Work of FUNIBER and UNEATLANTICO, strives to offer art to the societies where it is immersed through its cultural work.
UNEATLANTICO’s latest initiatives include the opening of exhibitions of Goya and Dalí in Nicaragua, the exhibition “Tàpies, collection of the engraver Barbarà” in El Salvador and the exhibition “La Divina Comedia” by Dalí in Mexico. In addition, at the Santander headquarters, the latest exhibitions have been: “Lo que mueve el Agua” by Almudena González Cantera and “Cielo abierto, momentos” by Claudia Iza.
