Raúl Torres, Member of the Congress of Mexico City, visited for the second time the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO). Upon his arrival at the university, he was welcomed by the Deputy Secretary General Jesús Peña, accompanied by Professor Luis Eduardo Prado González.
The main objective of his visit to UNEATLANTICO was to give a talk to the students, in order to comment on the possibilities and benefits that both Spanish and international students have and how they can contribute to the diplomatic sector.
Raúl Torres studied abroad, which is why he firmly supports the international education offered by UNEATLANTICO, as the university’s student body is made up of students from different countries in Africa, America, Europe and Asia.
The talk was attended by students from the degrees in Business Administration and Management (ADE), Journalism (PER), Advertising and Public Relations (PRP), Audiovisual Communication (CA) and the Expert in International Relations.
During the talk, Torres gave an international perspective to the students of audiovisual communication, mentioning those countries that are best positioned in the audiovisual sector, emphasising that Spain is among them. He also mentioned the opportunities that a career in journalism has around the world, taking as a reference those news channels that are looking for journalists from different parts of the world, whose mother tongue is Spanish.
Torres also spoke about how young people can contribute to the diplomatic sector and how their real needs in today’s politics can be taken into account. The talk also served to give the students new global perspectives and to raise awareness of new opportunities in their field, not only in Europe but also in different Latin American countries.
During the presentation, the students present had the opportunity to ask questions on various topics, such as the opportunities for entrepreneurship in Spain and Latin American countries, the opportunities in the Audiovisual Communication and Journalism environment in the Hispanic world, as well as the latest trends in these sectors.
For his part, Prado adds that ‘this is a great opportunity for the students, especially for those taking the Expert in International Relations, to learn from the hand of a great professional about the current situation and reality of their future working sector’.
