The Academic Director of the degrees of Translation and Interpretation and Applied Languages of the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO), Paula Quijano, has made an institutional trip to Italy following an invitation from UNICOLLEGE to its headquarters in Turin, where she gave a lecture on “Engaging with Post-Editing in the Academic Setting: A Practical Case in the Scientific Translation.”
Professor Quijano’s lecture focused on the introduction of post-editing in the classroom based on a practical case of scientific translation. Throughout the lecture, the UNEATLANTICO teacher explained the sequence that took place and justified “the reasons why it is necessary to address a reality so present in the translation sector within the current labor market, an issue on which all those present at the Congress agreed,” she mentions.
It should also be noted that this paper is based on a chapter of a book to be published this month at the Re-Defining Human Translation in the Era of Digitalization conference.
As part of this institutional trip, Paula Quijano also held a meeting with the Academic Director of UNICOLLEGE’s Degree in Translation and Interpretation, Giosuè Prezioso, “to lay the groundwork for what we hope will be a bilateral agreement between the two institutions,” she said.
Teaching at international level
Months ago, Professor Paula Quijano moved to the Jan Kochanowski University to give classes in the field of translation as part of the Erasmus+ Program, this being the second time she has visited the campus located in the city of Kielce (Poland).
The first of the subjects taught was “Introduction to English Translatology,” while this year she had the opportunity to teach a class on German philology: “Didactics of Translation and Teaching German as a Foreign Language.” In addition, Paula Quijano moved in 2021 to the University of the Azores in Portugal to teach in the Master’s Degree in Translation and the Portuguese Studies Degree.
On the other hand, the Academic Director also presented this year her book: “El Club de Lectores” (The Readers’ Club). The work is a compilation of 12 fragments of universal literature that reflect on self-knowledge. In its 128 pages, “El Club de Lectores” offers a way to read and exchange ideas and a written literary experience.
