Pablo Delgado, a student at UNEATLANTICO, is crowned European Under-23 triple jump champion

The Cantabrian athlete and student of the Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences (CAFYD) at the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO), Pablo Delgado, has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the European Under-23 champion in the triple jump. The sporting event was held in the city of Bergen, Norway, and was the setting in which Delgado prevailed over the best athletes on the continent in his category.

UNEATLANTICO student Pablo Delgado won gold yesterday with a jump of 16.55 metres, the best jump of his career and his personal best to date.

It should be noted that at the beginning of July, Pablo was crowned champion for the third consecutive time in the triple jump at the Spanish Under-23 Athletics Championships, a historic milestone as he became the first man to retain his title three times in this event. He did so with a jump of 16.32 metres, which was his best jump to date until he was crowned European champion. He also returned to the podium at the national championships, winning silver in the long jump with a jump of 7.63 metres, making him the only athlete at the national championships to reach the podium twice during this edition.

Delgado’s string of successes does not stop there. This year, at the Spanish University Athletics Championships (CEU) held in Madrid, he represented UNEATLANTICO and won two gold medals, both in the long jump and the triple jump. It is worth mentioning that in 2024, Pablo also took the podium as champion in the triple jump.

Finally, the rector of UNEATLANTICO, Rubén Calderón, adds that “from the Rector’s Office of UNEATLANTICO, together with the Physical Activity and Sports Service and the Faculty of Health Sciences, we would like to express our immense pride and sincere congratulations to Pablo. His dedication, talent and effort have led him to these continuous victories, which not only enhance the name of Spain and Cantabria, but also that of the European University of the Atlantic and our university community.”
