The professor of the Universidad Europea del Atlantico (European University of the Atlantic) (UNEATLANTICO) and Cantabrian director, Nacho Solana, will compete in the Official Section of the 22nd Seville European Film Festival with “You have to see it”, a story about intimacy and appearances.

The 22nd edition of the Seville European Film Festival took place from 7 to 15 November with an unprecedented bet: for the first time, the short film occupies a central place in its Official Section, where 27 works of real image and animation will compete for the main awards of the event.

Among them is «You have to see it», the new work of university professor and director Nacho Solana, who will represent Spanish cinema along with two other national productions. The short, written by Jordi Farga, part of a daily situation -the visit of friends who have just had a baby- to transform it into an unsettling and emotionally disturbing experience.

Starring Paula Usero, Pablo Gómez-Pando, Juan Blanco and Andrea Guasch, the film confirms the creative maturity of Solana, an author with a solid international projection in the field of short films. His career includes numerous awards, including the Méliès Silver Prize at Manchester’s Grimmfest.

The Seville Film Festival has brought together this year two Andalusian short films, three Spanish and 22 other works from countries such as France, Switzerland, Germany, Serbia or Poland, reflecting the diversity and vitality of contemporary European cinema. With this expansion of the Official Section, the competition seeks to consolidate the short film as a space for creative freedom and laboratory of new cinematographic voices.

“Tienes que verlo» will compete in the Real Image category, reinforcing the Spanish presence in an edition that vindicates the short as an essential format to understand the present and the future of European cinema.

About his participation in the event, Nacho Solana has highlighted the importance of this recognition:”Premiering in Seville is a start of incredible distribution. It is the first year that this festival, reference in Spanish cinema, makes official section of shorts, and being able to be in this first edition makes us special enthusiasm. We are very grateful for the trust they place in the short, and look forward to sharing their work with the public”.
