The teacher and film director Ignacio Gutiérrez-Solana, better known as Nacho Solana, from the degree in Audiovisual Communication (CA) at the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO), has directed the new documentary entitled ‘Always+Positive’, starring the Dutch coach Louis van Gaal and the scientific director of the National Cancer Research Center (CNIO), María Blasco.

This project, produced by Morena Films, focuses on a 14-minute conversation between van Gaal and Blasco, and is part of a solidarity campaign in favor of the CNIO. The initiative, conceived by Jorge Martínez and developed by IPG Mediabrands, seeks to transmit a positive and different vision of cancer research.
In ‘Always+Positive’, Louis van Gaal, known in Spain for his famous phrase “Always negative… Never positive”, shares his personal experience in the fight against cancer. In an intimate and serene dialogue, held in the locker room of a soccer field in Madrid, the coach addresses with naturalness and optimism his confrontation with the disease, highlighting the importance of trust in treatments and scientific advances. María Blasco, for her part, underlines the great advances that science is making in cancer research, recalling that new treatments and cures come from it.
The script of the documentary was written by Nacho Solana together with the Cantabrian director Marta Solano. Solana, referring to this project, told El Diario Montañés: “It has been a great opportunity and a great responsibility to redefine a phrase that is part of the lexicon of a whole generation in a positive message in favor of cancer research. That is very powerful, and that has been our goal with this short film”.
Nacho Solana teaches the subjects Evolution of Audiovisual Technology and Film Directing at UNEATLANTICO. He is a Cantabrian director with extensive experience in advertising and short films. It is worth mentioning that he recently attended the 42nd edition of the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFFF). During the festival, Gutiérrez-Solana presented his film “La Criatura”, a horror story about fatherhood, which he directed and produced. In the Work in Progress section, he was able to pitch his project and meet with the main sales agencies specialized in fantastic cinema and European production companies, highlighting the importance of these meetings for the development of his first feature film.
