The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) held its second lecture in the traditional public speaking course prior to the Debate League, featuring a talk by Mónica Bóbeda, creator of “El Show de la Palabra” and trainer in public speaking techniques.

Based on the premise that “it is much easier to believe than to think,” communicator Mónica Bóbeda presented her course Entrena tu palabra (Train Your Words), a training program aimed at developing communication skills, overcoming stage fright, and encouraging critical thinking.

The program combines theory and practice through a proprietary method called Show Palabra, which teaches how to construct and deliver an effective speech. It also offers a structured guide for those who wish to participate in a debate league, organized into three key stages.

The course also included practical workshops on controlling posture, managing attention, and using silence as a communication tool. In the area of breathing, Andrew Weil’s 4x7x8 formula is taught—inhale for four seconds, hold for seven, and exhale for eight, for four cycles—a technique designed to reduce cortisol and control nerves before speaking in public.

Another highlight was the identification of roles within the debate team: the organized one, the quick one, the inquisitive one, the analytical one, and the polite one, each with specific functions that strengthen group dynamics. Bóveda also proposed his perfect structure for constructing a speech with practical examples.

With the slogan “ideas are discussed and people are respected,” “Entrena tu palabra” (Train your words) has established itself as a comprehensive program that combines technique, reflection, and practice to train communicators to be more confident, critical, and aware of the power of words.
