Professor Miguel Ángel Torío Fernández, director of the Instituto Atúlfo Argenta, gave a talk to the students of the Master’s Degree in Teacher Training for Compulsory Secondary Education and Baccalaureate, Vocational Training and Language Teaching, as part of the subject ‘Organisation and Management of Educational Centres’ taught by Javier Cubero and Samuel Allende at the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO).
Miguel Ángel, with extensive experience in management and head of studies at the Instituto Público Ataulfo Argenta in Castro Urdiales, developed the subject of “School Management ’, explaining to the students the main functions of a school headmaster and showed the personal vision beyond what is the institutional law itself.
During the day, Torío carried out a practical exercise with the intention of explaining the most important functions of a headmaster based on his own experience. He also explained his point of view on these experiences in the world of education, delving into aspects such as the self-esteem of students in secondary education and the personal development of students through moral and academic support.
Another objective of the talk was to raise awareness of the magnitude of teamwork that teaching can lead to, reflecting on the importance of the character of each of the teachers to prioritise the vision of an educational centre and how the individual skills of each can become complementary, and thus form a functional management team.
With conferences given at UNEATLANTICO by professionals such as Miguel Ángel Torío, students learn first-hand how professionals who are benchmarks in their area of knowledge develop skills and competencies in the workplace.
