A workshop for Primary Education (PE) students was held at the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (UNEATLANTICO). This workshop was held in collaboration with Professor Laura García and given by Mercedes Del Campo, a social educator and worker for the Federation of Associations for the Prevention of Child Abuse (FAPMI).
The workshop was aimed at 2nd year students as part of the subject “Educational and Tutorial Orientation” and dealt with “Promoting the Buentrato for the prevention of violence against children and adolescents”.
About the seminar
The speaker, Mercedes Del Campo, addressed a variety of topics and aspects related to the workshop’s theme. Firstly, an analysis was made of the context in relation to violence against children and adolescents. The needs that children may have during childhood and adolescence were also detailed.
They then explained how to move from abuse to good treatment and the changes this can bring about in children. In addition, the types and characteristics of violence against children and adolescents were observed, so that the students would know how to identify them in the future. In addition, the indicators of child abuse were specifically observed.
Finally, emphasis was placed on the protocol for dealing with violence against children and adolescents. In this vein, UNEATLANTICO continues to train its Basic Education undergraduates with the firm aim of practicing their profession ethically and guaranteeing the integrity of its students.
