The call for entries is open until May 31. All residents or people born in Cantabria under the age of 30 can send their short film to jornadadejovenesrealizadores@gmail.com. The Jornadas de Jóvenes Realizadores Cántabros (Cantabrian Young Filmmakers Conference), organized by Héctor D. Somonte (UNEATLANTICO student) and Diego Aramburu-Zabala (UNEATLANTICO graduate), is now accepting submissions for its new section, “Nuevo Talento Cántabro” (New Cantabrian Talent), for the Second Cantabrian Young Filmmakers Conference. This new project aims to discover and give visibility to new young filmmakers in the region so that they can showcase their work. This new project is aimed at filmmakers up to 30 years of age, born or resident in Cantabria, who have not previously participated in this competition. In addition, it is a non-competitive section, focused on promoting new emerging filmmakers in the region and generating synergies for future projects.
The rules for submission are as follows:
- Short films made by people under 30 years of age.
- The maximum length allowed per short film is 15 minutes for both fiction and documentary.
- Exported in H.264 and mp4 with a maximum file size of 1 GB
- The short film must be submitted together with a technical sheet indicating the name of the short film, synopsis, duration, crew members, email address, and contact telephone number.
- Only short films produced after January 1, 2024, will be accepted.
A maximum of two short films per person will be accepted.
Short films should be sent by email to jornadadejovenesrealizadores@gmail.com via WeTransfer or Swiss Transfer or a link to Vimeo or YouTube (does not need to be private).
The short films will be judged by a jury of emerging professionals from the region.
Films shot in Cantabria will be given preference, and the quality of the story and th
e technical and formal aspects of the short film will be evaluated. The members of the jury will be announced in the weeks leading up to the event. In addition, the organizers have mentioned that the idea for this screening arose because “we want to screen as many young short films as possible so that more people can become known.”
Finally, UNEATLANTICO highlights the great work carried out by the Cantabrian Filmmakers’ Conference since its inception with the 1st Cantabrian Young Filmmakers’ Conference and its participation in the latest edition of the Piélagos Short Film Festival.
