The PHotoFUNIBER International Photography Contest, organized by the Ibero-American University Foundation (FUNIBER), the European University of the Atlantic, the International University of Cuanza (UNIC), the Ibero-American International University (UNINI Mexico), the International University Foundation of Colombia (UNINCOL), the University of La Romana (UNIROMANA), and the Ibero-American International University (UNIB), has come to an end.
The contest was organized within the framework of the Cultural Work of FUNIBER and UNEATLANTICO, which seeks to promote, disseminate, and value art and creativity.
Education in its diversity
This year, the contest invited participants to submit a photograph on the theme of education. The images received showed us very diverse experiences in different parts of the world, from early childhood education to continuing education and education for the elderly. Overall, we were dazzled by photographs that reveal the human desire for knowledge and development in very different settings.
In selecting the winner, the jury considered the composition of the image, the use of color, and the visual balance of the elements in the photograph. They also took into account the fact that we see several things happening in the image, where each person constructs and imagines their education.
There is also a relationship with spaces that are not seen in the image, causing the edges of the photograph to expand. In this sense, there is a “visual work” that represents the power of knowledge construction.

We received 4,780 votes in the public vote. The most voted photo was Aconselhando o irmão sobre as pressões escolares by Lopes Sete Zaqueu Jos, from Angola and a student at the Universidade Internacional do Cuanza (UNIC), with 671 votes.
In addition, eight special prizes were awarded (two for FUNIBER scholarship holders, two for undergraduate students at the European University of the Atlantic, two for students at the International University of Cuanza) and two prizes from the University of La Romana (UNIROMANA) for Dominicans.
An honorable mention was awarded to the photograph Primera Marcha Federal por la Educación (First Federal March for Education) by Lucia Prieto (Argentina).
