The delegate of the EFE Agency in Cantabria, María Eugenia García Robles, has visited the campus of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) for students to understand the importance of News Agencies.
The veteran journalist has led a meeting to present EFE, a Spanish multimedia news company in which more than two thousand professionals work in 180 cities in 110 countries. The Agency distributes three million news items a year in different news media: text, photography, audio, video and multimedia.
During this visit, he took the opportunity to recommend to future journalists multimedia training to be able to communicate news, photographs and videos. “This is what they are going to ask of you, that in addition to writing the news, you should make an audiovisual coverage”, García Robles affirms before the students of the first degree in Journalism (PER) of the European University of the Atlantic (Universidad Europea del Atlántico).
The journalist of the EFE Agency has a long professional career that she has shared with the students, to whom she has also explained the job opportunities through scholarships and masters to access to work in EFE, an agency with international relevance.
Likewise, the head of the Cantabrian delegation analyzed with the students some current affairs cases to teach the appropriate informative treatment in terms of writing and news sources.
This initiative is part of the subject “Theory and Practice of Journalistic Writing (The News)” taught by Professor Olga Agüero, Dean of the College of Journalists of Cantabria, and aims to learn firsthand the reality of the media and that students are trained with direct advice from working professionals.
