Dr. José Villaverde Castro, professor of the Fundamentals of Economic Analysis and collaborating professor at the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) promotes a deeper understanding of the world economy through lectures in Peru with the support of the Iberoamerican University Foundation (FUNIBER).
The professor has conducted a series of lectures and meetings in various Peruvian educational institutions and professional organizations, starting at the Main Auditorium of the Universidad César Vallejo (César Vallejo University) in the city of Trujillo. In the same city, he held a discussion with the professors of the Economics and International Business Studies Program of the Universidad Atenor Orrego (Atenor Orrego University).
Similarly, Professor Villaverde presented a second lecture at the Universidad César Vallejo, followed by a third one at the Auditorium of the College of Economists of La Libertad, which was attended by representatives of the College, members, students, and the general public.
The last destination of his tour was the country’s capital, Lima. There, he gave a lecture at the Auditorium of the Colegio de Economistas (College of Economists), both for an in-person audience and for a virtual one through a streaming transmission.
All the lectures have revolved around the theme of “Situation and perspectives of the world economy.” Professor Villaverde’s lectures delved into the world economic situation, paying special attention to the situation in Latin America and the unusual events of 2020 and 2022. The latter include two “black swans” such as the Covid-19 pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as well as a “white swan” with mass vaccination of the population.
The lecturer also discussed the outlook for the global economy in the short- and medium-term, considering factors of uncertainty such as the conflicts in Ukraine, the Middle East, tensions in the Sahel, and between the United States and China, and global political, military, economic, and environmental risks.
Finally, Professor Villaverde took the opportunity to give special thanks to the staff of FUNIBER Peru for their excellent attention and hospitality during his visit to the country.
