José Luis Nieto tours Spain with his “Pasión de Falla” tour and the support of the Obra Cultural of UNEATLANTICO

The international virtuoso pianist, José Luis Nieto, has left his mark throughout Spain with his exciting “Pasión de Falla” (de Falla Passion) tour, supported by the Obra Cultural de la Fundación Universitaria Iberoamericana (Cultural Work of the Iberoamerican University Foundation, FUNIBER) and the Universidad Europea del Atlántico  (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO). From Pinto to Sagunto, Nieto has captivated audiences by masterfully fusing iconic pieces by Spanish composer Manuel de Falla.

On Thursday, November 9, the Universidad Europea del Atlántico became the scene of an unforgettable night, celebrating the tenth anniversary of the institution with an extraordinary recital offered by José Luis Nieto. The auditorium was filled with distinction, with the presence of authorities, representatives of institutions, family members, students, and the Cantabrian community, all enjoying the “Pasión de Falla.” The virtuoso pianist received effusive ovations and concluded the evening with a record and book signing.

The tour maintained its charm throughout various Spanish cities, bringing the magic of de Falla to places such as Pinto, Jaca, Irún, Seville, and Sagunto. Each concert became a unique experience. José Luis Nieto, a pianist with a long international career, captivated the audience with masterful interpretations of musical pieces such as “The three-cornered hat,” “El amor brujo” (Love, the sorcerer), and “Fantasía bética” (Betic Fantasy).

In Irun, the Centro Cultural Amaia (Amaia Cultural Center) vibrated with the “Pasión de Falla,” attracting more than 600 attendees and counting with the presence of local authorities. The collaboration between FUNIBER, UNEATLANTICO, the City Hall of Irun, and the Olipes brand made this unforgettable event possible.

Seville, for its part, hosted the concert in the assembly hall of the Capitanía General, with more than 600 people and the support of FUNIBER, UNEATLANTICO, ICAS, the Cátedra General Castaños (General Castaños Chair), the Juventudes Musicales de Sevilla (Musical Youth of Seville), and the Olipes brand. The complete piano transcription of the symphonic ballet “The three-cornered hat” surprised the audience, consolidating Nieto’s contribution to the preservation and dissemination of the Spanish musical heritage.

Sagunto also succumbed to Nieto’s charm at the Teatro de Begoña (Begoña Theater), with more than 200 attendees, including the Councilor of Culture, Ana María Quesada, and the president of the Unión Musical Porteña Asunción Edo (Porteña Musical Union Asunción Edo). Likewise, Jaca witnessed another outstanding concert at the Auditorio Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones (Palace of Congress and Exhibitions Hall), also supported by the local Consistory.

An international musician

With the support of theObra Cultural de FUNIBER y UNEATLANTICO, José Luis Nieto continues to contribute not only to the music scene but also to music education, leaving a lasting mark on the Spanish artistic and cultural scene.

Nieto, trained at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid (Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid) and the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, was honored this year with the medal awarded by the Diputación de Cádiz (Cádiz Provincial Council)in recognition of his outstanding career and achievements in the musical field.

Parallel to his musical career, Nieto has stood out for his commitment to music education, exploring alternative means of reaching out to his audiences in the wake of the pandemic. His YouTube channel offers interviews with internationally renowned pianists and content aimed at educating young people interested in deepening their musical knowledge.
