The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European Atlantic University, UNEATLANTICO) organized a talk on cybersecurity given by José Carlos Cano, professor of the Master in Teacher Training of UNEATLANTICO, and president of the Cantabrian Association of Cybersecurity (Cibercantabria).
José Carlos Cano, UNEATLANTICO professor and computer engineer expert in cybersecurity spoke first hand about the importance of understanding digital privacy as part of the ethical and professional commitment that is assumed in the educational field. In particular, he connected the topic of the talk with his day-to-day experience as a teacher.
Cano stressed that the importance of responsible information management is not only a technical issue, but also a way to protect the trust that school communities place in teachers. In turn, the need for strong, up-to-date and securely managed passwords was addressed.
On the other hand, they discussed good practices related to the protection of devices and work equipment, recalling that an unattended team in a professional environment can become a focus of conflict. We also reflected on the responsible use of networks (both wifi and social networks) and their relevance to preserve the integrity of sensitive data, as well as the digital reputation of teachers and students in primary, secondary and vocational education.
With this type of initiatives, UNEATLANTICO reinforces its commitment to the training of its students so that they have the necessary tools for their future work, thus promoting a culture of security and digital responsibility.
